Zinc Maintenance
Daily:
Not much beyond soap and water. Windex and a paper towel will be fine as well.
Moisten dried food and wipe off. Use a Scotchbrite pad as necessary.
Minor scratches and mineral streaking:
Zinc tops and hoods come with an Omni directional-brushed finish.
It is created using a Scotchbrite pad mounted on a sander.
Blend or minimize scratches using a household Scotchbrite pad. Scrub by hand using a random direction of motion.
This may also be done using a Scotchbrite pad mounted on a 4 x 4 sander.
Clean the countertop with soap and water and paper towel dry.
Deep scratches or dramatic etching:
Your tops may be sanded up through the grades,150,180, 220 grit, and buffed using a Scotchbrite pad. Use a circular (random) pattern for a #4 finish or a straight-line motion to simulate machine brushing.
High or mirror polished Zinc may be polished using automotive compounds
and a machine polishing pad.
